What is a product identifier?
Product identifier
A product identifier is the unique string that names one in-app product in a store, such as pro_monthly. You choose it in App Store Connect or Google Play Console. Your app asks the store for the product by this ID, and every purchase, transaction and notification names it, so your app and server must use the same IDs.
On the App Store the product ID is set when you create the in-app purchase or subscription, and it appears as productId in the signed transaction. On Google Play a subscription has its own ID, and the customer's choice of base plan and offer is passed in the billing flow as an offer token. One-time products have a plain product ID.
Keep one naming scheme across both stores, for example pro_monthly and pro_annual. Your app code should not branch on product IDs. Map products to an entitlement or an offering instead, so that adding a plan later does not need an app update.
RevenueDot matches each purchase to a product by store_identifier. For a Google Play subscription you enter subscriptionId:basePlanId, for example pro:monthly, and a plain subscription ID also matches every base plan of that subscription. A purchase of an unknown product is saved but grants nothing.

FAQ
Product identifier: questions people ask
Should the product ID be the same on iOS and Android?
It is easier to reason about when the names match, but the stores do not require it. Map each store's ID to one entitlement so the app never depends on the ID itself.
Where do I find a product's ID?
In App Store Connect it is on the in-app purchase or subscription page. In Play Console it is on the subscription or one-time product page.
What happens if a purchase has a product ID I did not set up?
In RevenueDot the purchase is saved and shown in customer info, but it grants no entitlement until you create a product with that store ID and attach it.
