What is an offering?
Offering
An offering is a named group of products that your app shows on a paywall, such as Monthly and Yearly packages. The app asks the server for the current offering and displays it, so you can change plans, their order or the prices shown from the server without shipping an app update. The term comes from RevenueCat.
Neither store has this concept. Apple has subscription groups, which control which plans a customer can switch between, and Google Play has base plans and offers. An offering sits above them and decides what your paywall shows. RevenueCat says offerings are optional but they enable paywalls, experiments and targeting.
In RevenueDot an offering holds packages such as $rc_monthly and $rc_annual, and each package holds one product per app, so one offering serves your iOS and Android apps. The SDK shows the current offering. You can make another offering current, show one customer a different offering, or retire an old one by archiving it. Free-form metadata on the offering can carry paywall copy or flags. Because the offering is data on the server, it is also what RevenueDot paywalls and offering experiments work on: a paywall is attached to an offering, and an A/B test shows different customers different offerings.

FAQ
Offering: questions people ask
What is the difference between an offering and an entitlement?
An offering is what you sell on the paywall. An entitlement is the access a purchase grants. Products in an offering grant entitlements.
Can iOS and Android share one offering?
Yes. Each package holds one product per app, so the same offering can show the App Store product on iOS and the Google Play product on Android.
How do I change prices without an app update?
Make another offering current on the server, or change the products in the current offering. The app picks it up on its next call for offerings.
