What is monthly tracked revenue (MTR)?
Monthly tracked revenue (MTR)
Monthly tracked revenue, or MTR, is the amount a subscription platform measures to set your bill. For RevenueCat it is the revenue from all purchases and renewals in a month, including non-subscription products, measured before store commission and taxes. RevenueCat charges nothing up to $2,500 of MTR and 1% of all MTR once it passes that.
RevenueCat's documentation says MTR is different from MRR and includes the revenue from all purchases and renewals, including non-subscription products. It is measured before store commission and taxes, so it reflects what the customer paid and not your net proceeds. As of October 2026, RevenueCat's pricing page says you pay nothing up to $2,500 in MTR and then 1% of MTR. Its account management documentation gives the example of $2,600 in MTR in the previous billing cycle, which means a $26 charge, and says that RevenueCat is free again if you fall below the limit in later months.
That means the fee applies to all tracked revenue once you pass the limit, not only to the part above it. A one-time $49.99 lifetime purchase counts toward MTR, so an app that sells both subscriptions and one-time products has an MTR higher than its MRR.
RevenueDot Cloud uses the same unit: gross store purchases processed in a calendar month, before store fees and taxes, with sandbox and test purchases never counted. It is free up to $10,000 of monthly tracked revenue today. A paid plan of 0.5% above $10,000, capped at $999 a month, is planned, and self-hosting is free under the AGPL-3.0 license.
Example
An app with $2,600 of MTR pays RevenueCat $26, because the 1% applies to all $2,600. At $2,400 it pays nothing. On RevenueDot Cloud both months are free, because the free limit is $10,000.
