Chart · Churn and refunds
The Refunds chart shows the money refunded and the number of refunded transactions in each period, placed on the date of the refund, not the date of the purchase. Reversed refunds are subtracted. The money is in USD, and you can segment it by store, product, country and more.
Formula
Refunded revenue = refunds recorded in the period - refunds reversed in the period

Definition
Every refund and every refund reversal is a row in the transaction ledger. In each period RevenueDot adds the refunded amounts as positive refunded revenue and counts one refunded transaction per refund. A reversal in the same period removes its amount and one count. Refunds count on the refund date, the same rule the Revenue chart uses when it subtracts refunds.
Money is in USD under the same rules as every money chart, and you can show another display currency. Sandbox purchases, granted access and Family Sharing are excluded. Filters and segments: app, store, product, product duration, offering, country, platform and app version. You can open it in the dashboard under Charts or fetch it with GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/charts/refunds. The response has the same shape as RevenueCat's Charts API, so scripts written for that API keep working. The secret key needs the charts_metrics:charts:read permission. The Charts guide lists every parameter.
Worked example
One week of refunds recorded by RevenueDot.
| Measure | Transactions | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Refunds recorded in the week | 30 | $270 |
| Refunds reversed in the week | 2 | $18 |
The chart shows 28 refunded transactions and $252 of refunded revenue for the week.
Why it matters
Refunds is the cash view. It tells you how much revenue left the account this week, which is what reconciles against your store payouts and against the Revenue chart. A spike is something you can act on today, for example after a bad release, a billing bug or a wave of Apple refund requests.
Use it with Refund Rate. Refunds shows how much went out and when. Refund Rate shows how many of each period's purchases were refunded, which tells you whether the rate is changing or the volume is.
