Ad revenue is the money your ads earned, summed from the revenue events your app's SDK sends for each ad impression. RevenueDot converts each event to US dollars at the exchange rate of the event's date and sums it per period. It reads events the SDK sends to RevenueDot; it does not pull reports from ad networks.
Formula
Ad revenue = sum of ad revenue events (revenue_micros ÷ 1,000,000), each converted to USD at its event date

Definition
The chart sums rc_ads_ad_revenue events. Your app sends them to RevenueDot's /v1/events endpoint through the SDK's ad event tracking, either from an ad network adapter or by manual capture. Each event carries revenue_micros, currency and precision. RevenueDot divides the micros by 1,000,000 and converts the amount to US dollars at the exchange rate of the event's date.
RevenueDot does not read earnings reports from ad networks. The optional AdMob connection loads your ad unit names, but the revenue on this chart comes only from the events your SDK sends. If the SDK sends no events, the chart is empty. Events from sandbox and TestFlight builds are stored as sandbox and left out, and the same ad revenue is also added to the Revenue chart.
You can filter or segment by app, country, platform and app version. Periods are UTC, and day is the default resolution, with week, month, quarter and year available. For ad revenue by network, format and placement, use the Ads page in the dashboard.
Find the chart in the dashboard under Analytics > Charts, or call GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/charts/ad_revenue. The response has the same shape as RevenueCat's Charts API.
Worked example
Illustrative numbers for one day.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Ad revenue events | 2,000 |
| Average revenue per event | $0.004 |
Ad revenue for the day = 2,000 × $0.004 = $8.00.
Why it matters
Many subscription apps also show ads to free users. This chart shows what that free audience earns, in the same currency as your subscription revenue, so you can judge whether the ads pay for the free tier and whether a paywall would earn more per user.
Segment by country and platform to find where ads earn most, and by app version to catch a release that broke ad loading. Read it together with eCPM and Impressions: revenue moves when either the number of ads shown or the price per thousand moves.
API
Same path and response shape as RevenueCat's Charts API, so existing scripts keep working.

FAQ
Your app's SDK sends an ad revenue event for each paid ad impression to RevenueDot's /v1/events endpoint. RevenueDot sums the events and converts them to US dollars at each event's date.
No. The AdMob connection loads ad unit names. Ad revenue on the chart comes only from the events your SDK sends.
Yes. Ad revenue is added to the Revenue chart, and it also has its own chart so you can see it alone.
RevenueDot has received no ad revenue events for the filters and dates you chose. Check that the SDK sends ad events, that the build is not a sandbox build, and that the date range is right.
US dollars. Each event is converted at the exchange rate of its own date. You can display the chart in another currency, which converts the same USD amount at that date's rate.
