Show subscription details in Zendesk tickets

RevenueDot has a private Zendesk ticket sidebar app that shows the requester's active entitlements, subscriptions, refunds, total spent and open tickets next to each ticket. It calls GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/support_summaries?email= with a read-only secret key that Zendesk keeps as a secure setting. Agents' browsers never see the key.

What teams do with it

  • Answer a refund or access question without opening the dashboard.
  • See at a glance whether the requester has an active subscription and when it renews.
  • Spot refund requests and open tickets in the same panel.
  • Jump to the customer in the RevenueDot dashboard from the ticket.

What RevenueDot sends

  • This is a connection: it sends no events. The Zendesk app reads GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/support_summaries?email= for the ticket requester's email.
  • The panel shows status, active entitlements, plan, store, renewal or expiry date, billing issue, total spent, customer since, refund requests and open tickets.
  • A link opens the customer in the RevenueDot dashboard.
  • The key needs only the customer_information:customers:read permission. Zendesk stores it as a secure app setting and adds it to the request on Zendesk's servers.
  • Any other help desk can call the same summary from its own backend, or by app user ID: GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/customers/{app_user_id}/support_summary.

How to connect Zendesk to RevenueDot

  1. 01

    Create a read-only secret key

In RevenueDot, open API keys and create a secret key with only the customer_information:customers:read permission.

  2. 02

Upload the private app to Zendesk

Download the integrations/zendesk-app folder from the RevenueDot repository, zip its contents (or run zcli apps:package) and upload the zip in Admin Center › Apps and integrations › Zendesk Support apps › Upload private app.

  3. 03

Fill in the app's three settings

Set RevenueDot API URL (https://api.revenuedot.app on RevenueDot Cloud, or your server's URL), Project ID (from Project settings) and Secret API key (the key from step 1).

  4. 04

    Mark the app as installed

In RevenueDot, open Integrations → Zendesk and click Mark as installed, so the card shows the app as active.

Why the secret key stays out of the agent's browser

Zendesk keeps the key as a secure app setting and adds it to the request on Zendesk's servers, so an agent's browser never receives it (Zendesk: making API requests from an app, checked October 2026).

On a self-hosted server, add your server's host name to domainWhitelist in the app's manifest.json before you upload it. Zendesk sends a secure setting only to the domains listed there, and the manifest lists api.revenuedot.app by default.

FAQ

Zendesk and RevenueDot

How do I show a customer's subscription in Zendesk?

Upload RevenueDot's Zendesk app as a private app, fill in the RevenueDot API URL, Project ID and a read-only Secret API key, then mark it installed under Integrations → Zendesk. The sidebar then shows the requester's subscription next to each ticket.

Is the RevenueDot Zendesk app in the Zendesk Marketplace?

No. It is a private app, and its source is in the RevenueDot repository under integrations/zendesk-app. You zip it and upload it to your own Zendesk.

How does the Zendesk app find the customer?

By the ticket requester's email, through GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/support_summaries?email=.

Is there a RevenueCat Zendesk integration alternative?

RevenueDot's Zendesk app is a ticket sidebar, not an event feed. It reads the customer's current subscription from RevenueDot on demand. Pair it with the Intercom inbox app if you use Intercom.
