Send subscription revenue to Statsig experiments

RevenueDot logs each subscription step to Statsig as a custom event through the log_event API, named rc_initial_purchase_event, rc_renewal_event and so on. value is the revenue in US dollars, negative for refunds, and userID is your app user ID, so experiments and feature gates can use paid conversion as a metric. Sandbox events use the development tier.

What teams do with it

  • Measure an experiment by revenue per user, not just clicks.
  • Use trial conversion and renewals as the success metric of a feature gate.
  • Keep sandbox purchases out of production metrics with Statsig's development tier.
  • Rename events to match metrics you already defined in Statsig.

What RevenueDot sends

  • One eventName per step through POST https://events.statsigapi.net/v1/log_event: rc_initial_purchase_event, rc_trial_started_event, rc_trial_converted_event, rc_trial_cancelled_event, rc_renewal_event, rc_cancellation_event, rc_uncancellation_event, rc_non_subscription_purchase_event, rc_subscription_paused_event, rc_expiration_event, rc_billing_issue_event, rc_product_change_event, rc_transfer_event, rc_refund_reversed_event and rc_test_event.
  • value: the revenue in US dollars, negative for refunds. Events with no money send no value.
  • metadata (strings only): event_id, event_type, product_id, store, environment, period_type, entitlement_ids, transaction_id, original_transaction_id, currency, purchased_currency, cancel_reason and is_trial_conversion.
  • user.userID is the app user ID, so it must match the user ID your Statsig SDK uses. $email, $ip and the country go in as user fields.
  • user.statsigEnvironment.tier is development for sandbox events and production for the rest.

Setup

How to connect Statsig to RevenueDot

  1. 01

    Copy the server secret key

In Statsig, open Settings → Keys & Environments and copy the Server Secret Key. It starts with secret-.

  2. 02

    Open the integration

In RevenueDot, open Integrations → Statsig.

  3. 03

    Paste the key

Paste it as Server secret key. RevenueDot refuses a key that does not start with secret-, because client keys cannot log server events.

  4. 04

    Choose the revenue basis

Set Sales reporting to gross revenue or revenue after store commission and taxes.

  5. 05

    Connect and test

Click Connect Statsig, send a test event for a customer and check the delivery log.

How Statsig deliveries are retried, logged and replayed

  • Retries: timeouts, 408, 425, 429 and 5xx answers retry after 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 minutes. Any other 4xx fails at once, because sending the same request again cannot work. Fix the setting, then replay.
  • Delivery log: each delivery shows the request with every secret replaced by [redacted], the partner's answer, the HTTP status, the time taken and the number of attempts.
  • Skipped, with the reason: when there is nothing to send, such as a missing device ID, the delivery is marked skipped and says why. Retry sends it after your app sets the attribute.
  • Replay: Replay failed resends failed and skipped deliveries in bulk.
  • Sealed credentials: keys and tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on the server and never shown again. The dashboard shows only the last four characters.
  • Rejections: Statsig answers 202 with {"success":true}. A {"success":false} answer is logged as a rejection.

FAQ

Statsig and RevenueDot

How do I send subscription revenue to Statsig?

Copy the Server Secret Key from Settings → Keys & Environments in Statsig, paste it as Server secret key under Integrations → Statsig in RevenueDot and click Connect Statsig. Each purchase, renewal and refund is then logged as a custom event with value set to the revenue.

Which user ID does Statsig see for a purchase?

Your app user ID, sent as userID. It has to match the userID your app gives the Statsig SDK, or the revenue lands on a different user than the one in your experiment.

Does Statsig get refunds as negative revenue?

Yes. A refund is a cancellation event with a negative value, which Statsig accepts. Events without money send no value.

Is there a RevenueCat Statsig integration alternative?

RevenueDot logs the same rc_<step>_event names that RevenueCat's analytics integrations use, so metrics built on them keep working. See RevenueCat's list of integrations, checked October 2026. RevenueDot is open source and free to self-host.
