Send subscription events to CleverTap profiles

RevenueDot sends each subscription event to CleverTap's Upload API as an event named like rc_renewal_event, together with a profile update that sets rc_subscription_status. The event carries revenue in US dollars, product, store and transaction ids. The user is $clevertapId as objectId when set, otherwise the app user id as identity.

What teams do with it

  • Trigger CleverTap journeys on trial starts, billing issues and cancellations.
  • Build segments from rc_subscription_status, such as grace_period or cancelled.
  • Report renewals and revenue back to CleverTap profiles.
  • Send sandbox purchases to a second CleverTap account.

What RevenueDot sends

  • One request to /1/upload per event, with an event record named rc_initial_purchase_event, rc_trial_started_event, rc_renewal_event and so on, for 12 steps.
  • Event data includes revenue, currency (USD), product_id, store, environment, period_type, transaction_id, country_code and event_id. Entitlement ids are joined with commas, because CleverTap takes flat properties.
  • A profile record sets rc_subscription_status when the event changes it.
  • The user is $clevertapId as objectId when set, otherwise the app user id as identity.
  • Sandbox events are sent only when you fill both Sandbox account ID and Sandbox passcode.

How RevenueDot delivers events to CleverTap

  • Timeouts, rate limits (HTTP 429) and server errors (5xx) from CleverTap retry on the webhook schedule: after 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 minutes.
  • Any other 4xx answer fails at once, because sending the same request again cannot work. Fix the setting, then click Replay failed.
  • The delivery log keeps each request with every secret replaced by [redacted], the answer, the time taken and, for skipped events, the reason.
  • Credentials are sealed with AES-256-GCM on the server. After you save a key, the dashboard shows only its last four characters.
  • CleverTap answers HTTP 200 with status set to partial or fail when it rejects records. RevenueDot treats that as a failure and logs the error.
  • CleverTap documents no idempotency key, so a replayed event is recorded again.

FAQ

CleverTap and RevenueDot

Does the CleverTap integration work with the RevenueCat SDK?

Yes. RevenueDot speaks the RevenueCat SDK protocol, so your app keeps the RevenueCat SDK and only the server address changes. Set $clevertapId with the SDK's attribute call if you identify users by their CleverTap id.

Is it the same as RevenueCat's CleverTap integration?

It sends the same rc_*_event names and rc_subscription_status profile property, and reads the same $clevertapId attribute. RevenueCat's version has years of production use behind it. RevenueDot's is newer, so run Send test event and check CleverTap before you rely on it.

Which region is the default?

Europe, which uses api.clevertap.com. Choose your account's region under Region, or events go to the wrong cluster.

Does replaying an event create a duplicate?

Yes. CleverTap documents no idempotency key, so a replayed event is recorded a second time.
