What is price increase consent?
Price increase consent
Price increase consent is a subscriber's agreement to a higher subscription price. Some increases need it and some only need notice, depending on size and region. If a subscriber does not agree to an increase that needs consent, Apple lets the subscription expire at the end of the billing cycle, and Google Play cancels the subscription before the first charge at the new price.
On the App Store, some increases need the subscriber to opt in, while smaller, infrequent ones only send notifications. You can keep any number of existing subscribers at their old price while you raise it for new ones. Before the system sheet appears, you can show an in-app message that explains the value. The notification type PRICE_INCREASE tells you whether the customer consented or was only informed, and EXPIRED with subtype PRICE_INCREASE tells you the customer did not consent.
On Google Play, increases are opt-in by default. Customers must accept before the first charge at the higher price, or the subscription is canceled. Google notifies them 30 days before the charge, which is a 37-day lead time overall, and you get seven days from the start to tell your own subscribers first. In some places you can use an opt-out increase with advance notice instead, with limits on the size and frequency, and you must show an in-app notice. Google sends SUBSCRIPTION_PRICE_STEP_UP_CONSENT_UPDATED and price change updates as RTDNs.
RevenueDot records PRICE_INCREASE_CONSENT_REQUIRED and PRICE_INCREASE_CONSENT_APPROVED events when the store asks for or receives consent. A cancellation that comes from a refused increase carries the cancel reason PRICE_INCREASE.

FAQ
Price increase consent: questions people ask
What happens if a subscriber ignores a price increase?
If it requires consent, an Apple subscription expires at the end of its billing cycle, and a Google Play subscription is canceled before the first charge at the new price.
How much notice does Google Play give?
For default opt-in increases, 37 days before the first charge at the new price, with direct notices to subscribers starting 30 days before the charge.
Can I raise prices for new subscribers only?
Yes. Apple lets you keep the price of existing subscribers, and Google Play uses legacy price cohorts so that you decide when to migrate them.
