RevenueDot has 43 subscription analytics charts for apps, including MRR, ARR, churn, trial conversion, refund rate, LTV and retention. What rules does every chart follow?

  • Sandbox purchases are excluded. The Sandbox data switch shows only sandbox and Test Store purchases instead.
  • Money is in US dollars at the exchange rate of the purchase date. Fourteen display currencies convert that amount at the same date's rate.
  • Refunds count on the refund date, not the purchase date.
  • A resubscription is a new subscription. A renewal after a billing issue continues the old one.
  • Periods are UTC. Weeks start on Monday, and the current period's snapshot is taken now. Incomplete periods are marked with an asterisk.
  • MRR normalizes every paid subscription to one month. Cancelled subscriptions count until they expire, and trials count zero.

How do you get a chart through the API?

The key needs the charts_metrics:charts:read permission. resolution takes day, week, month, quarter or year. filters and segment slice the data, and GET .../charts/{chart_name}/options lists what each chart supports.

Monthly MRR for the first half of 2026curl

Filters, segments, comparison and saved views

Published SQL for 8 core charts, among them revenue, active subscriptions, active trials and MRR, lets you reproduce the numbers in your own warehouse. A test checks the SQL equals the API.

  • Filter and segment by app, store, product, product duration, offering, country, platform and app version. Paywall charts also split by paywall.
  • Compare to the previous period draws the earlier window of the same length as a dashed line and shows the change in each summary number.
  • Save a chart with its range, resolution, segment, filters and selectors. Saved charts are listed for everyone in the project.
  • Download any chart as CSV.

Where are the gaps in RevenueDot's charts?

  • There is no tax data. Revenue net of taxes equals revenue, because the stores do not report tax per purchase, and proceeds subtract only the store commission.
  • Paid introductory offers count as direct purchases in Paid Subscriptions.
  • Renewal cycle, offer type, attribution and custom-attribute dimensions are not available yet. Platform and app version are the customer's latest.
  • App Store Save Outcomes is always zero, and refund request charts cover the App Store only.
  • Charts are computed per request, so very large projects will need daily rollups.

FAQ

Charts: questions people ask

What subscription metrics does RevenueDot track?

RevenueDot has 43 charts. They include MRR, ARR, revenue, active subscriptions, new paid subscriptions, subscription retention, active trials, trial conversion, initial conversion, churn, refund rate, realized LTV, paywall conversion and ad revenue. Each has a written formula and an API name.

How does RevenueDot calculate MRR?

At the end of each period, every paid subscription with access counts its price normalized to one month: a year divides by 12, a week multiplies by 4, and so on. Cancelled subscriptions count until they expire, trials count zero, and sandbox purchases are excluded.

Can I get chart data through an API?

Yes. GET /v2/projects/{project_id}/charts/{chart_name} returns time series and cohort tables with RevenueCat's parameters and response shape, so scripts written for RevenueCat's charts API keep working. A secret key with the charts_metrics:charts:read permission is required.

Does RevenueDot exclude sandbox and test purchases from charts?

Yes. Sandbox and Test Store purchases are excluded from every money and subscription number. Switch on Sandbox data, or send environment=sandbox to the API, to see only sandbox purchases instead.

Can I reproduce a chart in my own database?

For 8 core charts, yes. RevenueDot publishes the SQL for revenue, transactions, refunds, new trials, new customers, active subscriptions, active trials and MRR, and a test checks that the SQL equals the API. For anything else, use scheduled data exports to your own bucket.
